Alan Russel Herold of Mansfield, Texas passed away on August 15, 2023. He was born to Alan Herold and Claudia Ellis Herold in Kabul, Afghanistan on December 30, 1953. He spent much of his childhood in Baggs, Laramie, and Cheyenne, Wyoming. In 1972, he graduated from East High School. Alan served in the United States Army from June 15, 1972 – June 2, 1975. He was stationed in Germany and received an honorable discharge. After his time in the Army, he continued his education at the University of Wyoming, where he earned both a Bachelor of Science Degree and a Master’s Degree in Vocational Agriculture. Alan worked as a Vocational Agriculture (Future Farmers of America) instructor from 1981-1986 and a Farmers Home Administration supervisor from 1988-1995. He worked as an over-the-road trucker, shuttle driver, and held other various positions in community service from 1986 until his retirement. Among the places he lived, he spent considerable time in Torrington, Wyoming; Fort Collins and Craig, Colorado; Prescott, Arizona; and Mansfield, Texas. Alan enjoyed playing the didgeridoo, cards, video games, hiking, spending time with dogs, traveling, science fiction movies, reading, and the pursuit of knowledge. He was preceded in death by his parents, Alan and Claudia Herold. Alan is survived by his daughters, Shayla Herold (Akash Jinandra), and Shaundra Herold; son, Alexander Herold; sisters, Susan Erikson, Bonnie Liakos (Bill ♰), Patty Waldron (Pat); brother, John Herold; nieces, Tamra Grzebyk (Dave), Kayla Ridgeway (Stefan), Nikkole Maxson (Jason), Kara Liakos; nephews, Chad Waldron ♰ (Sonya), Ira Waldron (Jessica), Russel Liakos ♰ (Blessing).
