Chris Marie Bacon, 87, departed this life Thursday, March 21, 2019 at her home in Arlington, Texas. Chris was born in Pocatello, Idaho on November 17, 1931, the fifth of eight children to John and Addie Haddenham. Chris met and married the love of her life, USAF Master Sergeant Wayne Bacon in 1952. A career Air Force wife, she traveled the world with Wayne and their three children until they retired to Fort Worth in 1967, where she continued her life as a devoted wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. Chris loved the outdoors and was an avid gardener. She loved to read and shared the love of reading with those around her, volunteering at local elementary schools and public libraries. Chris loved to sew and crochet, and even in her later years, she would never say no to a game of Bridge or Yahtzee. Chris is preceded in death by her husband of 54 years, Wayne Bacon and great-grandson, Darrin Warthen. She is survived by her sister, Judy Bertwell; son, Tom Bacon (Christy); daughter, Judith Hromcik (Kenneth); son, Michael Bacon; grandchildren, Amy Schuster (Patrick); Stephen Hromcik (Kacey); Judy Burkett (Dale); Susan Adams (Derek); and great-grandchildren, Dakota Fox (Abby); Morgan and Ella Schuster; Trent Warthen; and Caleb, Collin, Holly, and Joseph Hromcik. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, a charity near and dear to Chris’ heart.
