Barbara Jean George

Barbara (Kidwell) Steinmetz George of Mansfield, Texas, passed away August 25th at the age of 87 with her loving husband, Richard by her side. 

Barb grew up in Ellet Ohio where she attended school and helped in the family store, Kidwell Grocery. Her experience there would later be used in management positions at several other Akron stores. Barb eventually left retail and went on to work for the Summit County Auditor’s Office, where she retired after 20 years of loyal service. Barb and her husband spent many weekends and vacations pulling their RV trailer around the country. They made wonderful memories camping, sightseeing, hunting for treasures at flea markets, and meeting up with family and friends. Once retired the snowbirds split their time between Akron and the gulf coast of Port Aransas for 19 years. When it was time to stop traveling, they permanently settled in Mansfield Texas. 

Barb was welcomed into Heaven by her oldest son, James Steinmetz, her parents, Francis James and Ellen Kidwell, her brother, Jim Kidwell, sister, Vivian Chaney and son-in-law, Daniel LaBarre. 

She is survived by her devoted husband of 37 years, Richard George, children, Karen LaBarre, Craig Steinmetz, Christine (Lance) Bartch, stepchildren, Pam Vargo, Bruce (Cindy) George and Nancy Arends. 

Cremation has taken place, and internment will be held later at Skyvue Memorial Gardens, Mansfield Texas.
