Sylvia was born December 10, 2917 in Delaware, Oklahoma, to Mary and Andrew Washburn. After graduating high school, she was employed by Cities Service Oil Company in Bartlesville, Oklahoma, where she met her love, Hub Baumler, a Petroleum Engineer. They were married in Gary, Indiana in 1942 and returned to Bartlesville, where she returned to Cities Service. Mr. Baumler joined the Navy serving two years overseas. Hb returned and graduated from Oklahoma University and returned to work at Cities Service. They were transferred several times: to East Kansas, West Kansas, Bartlesville, Oklahoma and Midland Texas. After raising her two children, Sylvia went to work as a Medical Assistant until retiring. After Mr. Baumler died in Midland in 1982, Sylvia moved to Arlington to be near her son, Steve Baumler in Dallas and daughter, Marty Mayfield and her new granddaughter in Arlington. She always attended church and was asctin in UMW bible study, Wednesday fellowship, going places and OWLS.
She was preceded in death by her parents; six siblings; her beloved husband, Hub; son, Steve and many of her closest friends.
After falling at home alone, she moved to Isle at Watercrest Assisted Living in Mansfield, Texas in 2017 where she celebrated her 100th and 101st birthdays with parties and where she loved and made new friends.
She is survived by her daughter, Marty Mayfield (Ken); granddaughters, Molly Mayfield, Macey Mayfield (Erik Pendleton); grandson, Scott Mayfield (Joy); great-grandkids, Racheal, Nic, Hannah and Maggie Mayfield; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Her longtime wish was to donate her body to Medical Science, so she went with the Willed Body Program at UT Southwestern Medical School in Dallas, Texas.
She would encourage everyone to be an organ or body donor.
