Douglas Choron, 63, of Venus, Texas, passed away on Saturday, September 8, 2018. He was born on July 9, 1955, in Anniston, Alabama to Richard Sargent Choron and Myra Olen Hooks. He married Gladys Jane Dear, who precedes him in death.
Doug had a passion for fixing things, such as bicycles that he would give to children that needed them. He had a very competitive nature that showed every time you sat down with him to play his favorite game, dominos. If by chance you were lucky enough to be winning, you were clearly “pencil whipping” him.
He is preceded in death by both of his parents; first wife, Gladys Jane Choron; siblings, Elma Jean McCallum Choron, Mary Choron Chaney, James Lee Forrest Choron, Donald Gerald Choron, Richard Harold Choron; grandson, Daniel Pedraza Delgadillo Jr.
Doug leaves behind a wife, Vickie Ann Blaton; son,Johnny Choron and wife Samantha; three daughters, DeeAnn Schmitz and husband Joshua, Amanda Lee Roberds and husband Bobby, Tina Fateley; step-son, Toby Fateley and wife Rebecca; son-in-law, Daniel Delgadillo; siblings, David Wayne Choron, Danny Ray Choron, Thomas Marion Choron, Janice Marie Deerman; grandchildren, Angel, Julie, Jenna, Jennifer, Haley, Kaela, Alexis, Cole, Matthew, Rachel, Nicholas; great-granddaughter, Sarah; and numerous extended family members and friends.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at 11:00 AM at Empowering Word Christian Center located at 118 S. Hwy 342, Red Oak, Texas 75154.
A Celebration of Life will be held later that evening at 6PM at daughter Tina’s house, see family for details.
