Clydell's Story
On February 6, 1940, Clydell was born to her namesake Dad, Clyde Stevens, and her Madea, Martha High Stevens. She was the little sister to Letharue, her only sibling. Clydell attended public schools in Fort Worth, Texas and went to Paul Lawrence Dunbar High School.
Clydell worked at Texas Instruments for over 20 years. During this time, she married the love of her life, Eli “Joe” Vernon, on September 9, 1977. Clydell and Joe merged a blended family of 6 children and were married for over 40 years.
Clydell joined Christland Missionary Baptist Church in her later years where she served until her health failed. Clydell was well loved by many family and friends and was a caretaker for many. She was best known for her hilarious sense of humor. Whenever you needed a laugh, Clydell had one to give.
On Friday, December 20, 2024, Clydell departed this life. She was preceded in death by numerous loved ones including her husband, Joe Vernon; parents Clyde and Martha Stevens; sister Letharue Carroll; and Special Aunt Minnie Ola McDonald.
Left to cherish her memories are children Rickie Jones, Reggie Jones, Robbie Hadley; Sheila Vernon, Eli Vernon III and Marie Vernon; numerous grandchildren, several great grandchildren and a host of beloved nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
