Lela M. Craddock, 85, went to be with the Lord on Wednesday, January 5, 2022.
Visitation Service: 6-8pm Friday, January 21, 2022 at Skyvue Victoria Chapel.
Chapel Service: 11am Saturday, January 22, 2022 at Skyvue Victoria Chapel.
Lela was born on April 18, 1936 in Birmingham, Alabama to her loving mother and father, Margaret Bobbs and Jesse L. Brown. She attended Parker Highschool in Birmingham, Alabama, later attending Miles College also in Birmingham, Alabama and later moving to Fort Worth, Texas and attended and graduated from Texas Wesleyan University in Fort Worth, Texas. With her education she became a long-time teacher for Catholic Elementary Schools like St. Mary's, Our Mother of Mercy, and Holy Name Catholic School in Fort Worth, Texas, Pantego Christian School as well as Arlington and Crowley ISDs. Not only did she teach at Catholic schools she was a loyal member of St. Maria Goretti Catholic Church. Lela loved being an educator but in her spare time she had a passion for sewing, painting, gardening, cooking, writing poetry and most of all spending time with her family and friends. She brought comfort to many families and friends through prayer, as many knew her as a prayer warrior. Through all this, the Craddock family would like to send a special thanks to the staff at Green Oaks Nursing and Rehab for the care and compassion they showed Lela and her family through this transition.
She is preceded in death by parents, Margaret and Jesse Brown; sister, Ella Weaver; brothers, Charles, Jesse, Curtis and Nathaniel.
Lela is survived by daughters, Cynthia Conner, Cheryl Joiner (Cordell); son, James Craddock Jr. (Erica); sister, Margaret Smith; brother, Anthony Brown; grandchildren, Andrina Williams (Lenny), Jazmine Craddock, Chamberlin Craddock, James Craddock III, Jayla Craddock, Monica Joiner, Adam Joiner (Nicki), Raymond Frye III, Cristal Conner; great-grandchildren, Aubrey Williams, Allyah Williams, Lenny Jr. Williams, Ava lynn Williams, Jordyn Liddell, Isaiah Joiner, Jenesis Barras, Makayla; special friend, Carol Berrong; several nieces and nephews and many more loved family and friends.
