Deborah “Debbie” Sue Dissmore, 61, of Burleson, Texas, passed away on January 14,
2017.
Debbie was born in Wadena, Minn., on June 30, 1955, to Harry and Pansy Taves. She grew up on a turkey farm which is now understood to have once been the largest turkey farm in America. She attended school in Verndale, Minn., and graduated from Verndale High School in the Spring of 1973. Debbie enrolled and attended the North Central Bible College in Minneapolis the following Fall semester. She married Allen “Al” Dissmore on September 14, 1974 in Detroit Lakes, Minn. Together Al and Debbie made their home in Minneapolis for the first year before making the move to Hillsboro, Texas, where they spent the next 12 years of their life. Debbie worked at the Hill County Courthouse as the assisting Hill County Treasurer and assisted Al with their feed business: Al’s Farm and Ranch Supply. While living in Hillsboro, Al and Debbie welcomed their two daughters Heidi in May of 1980 and Heather in October of 1985. Al and Debbie moved their family to Burleson in 1987 to continue raising their girls and work in real estate for several years. They both worked with the Volkman Family at Volk Homes. In 1994, Al and Debbie started their own home building business: Dissmore Homes. During this time they built over 1000 homes together. Later Debbie went on to work for Carter and Burgess and then The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders in 2005. Although her illness made it too difficult to continue working in 2014, she continued to volunteer at The Center for Cancer and Blood Disorders until recent months. Debbie was a beautiful person both inside and out. She was a warm person with a gentle spirit. She was quiet with a courageous strength accompanied with wisdom which was witnessed by many throughout her illness. She had many loves: First and foremost was the love and strong personal relationship with her Lord and Savior, followed by her beloved family of whom she cherished beyond all measure. Debbie, Wife, Mom, Mimi, Sister, Daughter, Friend... These are all precious terms of endearment we will cherish forever as we remember our sweet Debbie. Most people who knew Debbie knew of her love for fresh flowers and an immaculate house, but what may surprise many was her avid love for sports. Although she didn't consider herself an athlete, she loved watching her teams play. She could give you the stats of her esteemed Dallas Cowboys, Texas Rangers and Dallas Mavericks without hesitation. Her face would light up when she spoke of them. Debbie had more skills and talents than we could ever comprehend. She will be loved and missed greatly by her family and all of those who knew her. Debbie is preceded in death by her parents Harry and Pansy Taves.
Debbie is survived by her husband: Allen Dissmore; children: Heidi and husband Josh Jacobs of Burleson, and Heather Dissmore of Burleson; brothers and sisters: Lee and wife Carla Taves of Milton, Fla., Eugene and wife Becky Taves of Eastland, Texas, Harry, Jr. and wife Judy Taves of Wadena, Minn., Darlene and husband Jim Krein of Burleson, and Dorcas and husband Terry Maris of Del Rio, Texas; and her grandchildren: Skyler, Piper, Knox and Brennen and many nieces and nephews.
