Wayne H. Echols

Wayne H. Echols of Arlington, TX, formerly of, Liberty, Baytown, Highlands, LaPorte, Maracaibo-Venezuela, South America, passed away on December 30, 2021.

Celebration of Life: 12:00pm, Wednesday, January 12, 2022 at Skyvue Funeral Home.

Wayne was born on May 20, 1939 to Hershel James Echols and Frances Inez Little in Liberty, TX. He attended and graduated from Robert E. Lee High School (Gander) and in 1960, he married the love of his life, Gloria Jean Weir.

Wayne was always a hard working man. He worked as a pipefitter for NASA in Houston, TX where he was involved in the Pipefitters Local 211. He then went on to work for General Motors where he retired from. In his free time he was a member of the UAW Local 276 in Arlington, TX. He also loved bowling, fresh water and deep sea fishing, hunting and watching college and NFL football.

He is preceded in death by his parents, Hershel and Frances Echols; grandson, Adrian Johnson.

Wayne is survived by his wife of 61 years, Gloria Jean (Jeannie) Weir; daughter, Sherri Kae Echols; son, David Wayne Echols; brother, Charles David Echols; grandchildren, Amanda Johnson, Andrea Johnson, Alex Talbot; great-grandchildren, Romeo Ruiz, Liliana Ruiz, Jazilyn Sutton; nieces, Nickie Echols Brown, Christy Henley, Candy Baird, Cathy Davenport, Cindy O’Brien; nephews, Bobby Goyen, Norris Weir, Scott Weir, Derek Weir, Casey McLeod and special family friend, Frank Kovar.
