Joyce Marie Eddy (née Gaiser) passed away at the age of 88 with family by her side on
February 27, 2023. Joyce was born October 30, 1934 in West, Texas to Henry & Mary Gaiser
(née Rendek). After graduation from West High School, she completed technical training in
clerical skills. Joyce loved her work, which included working for Continental Oil & various law
firms. Her last job before retiring was at the Waco law firm of Pakis, Giotes, Page & Burleson.
She enjoyed many aspects of retirement life including travel, family gatherings, and sleeping in
as late as possible.
Joyce was married on February 16, 1988 to Marvin B. Eddy in Clayton, New Mexico. Joyce and
Eddy shared many adventures together, traveled all over the US and abroad, enjoying the
natural beauty in the world. She was a Christian woman, growing up in the Catholic Church, and
loved attending church at both the St. Jude Catholic Church and Mansfield Church of Christ,
having friendship and enjoying community at both. Joyce also loved her hometown of West, TX;
she was proud of her Czech heritage. She loved to attend the annual Westfest and dance to her
favorite band, Brave Combo. She was an animal lover who adored her dog Furby and cat
Cheeto.
Joyce was preceded in death by: husband, Marvin Eddy; parents, Christian Henry Gaiser and
Mary Frances Rendek Gaiser; siblings, Eleanor Gaiser Dennis, Freddy Gaiser, Robert J.
(Bobby) Gaiser, Henry L. (Buster) Gaiser, Willie J. (Bill) Gaiser, Ernest Gaiser, and Johnny
Gaiser; son, Edward George Wojtewicz; daughter-in-law Becky Schulze Wojtewicz; and
grandson, Jacob Sliva.
Joyce is survived by: daughter, Carol Sliva and husband Terry; son, Scott Carpenter and wife
Jennifer; grandchildren, Christopher Kaz Wojtewicz and wife Chrissy, Desiree’ Litton and
husband John, Johnathan Wojtewicz and wife Sabrina, Zachary Carpenter, and Abigail
Carpenter; great grandchildren, Aubree Wojtewicz, Whitney Wojtewicz, Charlotte Wojtewicz,
Colton Wojtewicz, Nash Litton, Harper Litton, and Marshall Wojtewicz.
Graveside Services will be: 11 am Saturday at Skyvue Memorial Gardens. Visitation: 10-11 am
Saturday at Skyvue Funeral Home.
Memorials can be made in Joyce Eddy’s name to Meals on Wheels or Union Gospel Mission.
