Sydney Eller

November 12, 1944 — February 21, 2014

Sydney Francine Duffin Eller, 69, passed away after a long illness. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter Day Saints.
Memorial Service: 12 noon Thursday at LDS Stake Center in Arlington, Texas.
Graveside Service: 2 pm Thursday at Moore's Cemetery in Arlington.
Sydney was born in Dallas, Texas, on November 12, 1944, to Sidney A. and Carolyn Duffin. It was her father's birthday and he was hoping to ship out to Iwo Jima. She graduated from Arlington High School in 1963 and was a published, prize winning writer.
At the suggestion of friends in the entertainment field she started her own clothing design business in 1966 and supported herself and her son by designing stage clothes for seven years. When dinner clubs that featured Vegas type show groups phased out in the DFW are in the early 1970's and were replaced by discos, Sydney had to find another means of support or relocate.
She applied for and received a full scholarship to the J.B. Chester School of Vocational Nursing where she graduated and received a score on her exam that allowed her to practice in any state without taking an additional state exam. Sydney worked as a nurse and managed the office of Dr. A. L. Karbach for ten years.
After deciding to leave the medical profession Sydney was employed in various aspects of data entry and accounting administrative assistance, before agreeing to help her family with various aspects of their business.
Sydney loved to write and considered it cheaper therapy than a psychiatrist. She had several books of printed poetry and was working on a book about the music and entertainment business in the DFW area in the 1960's, as well as a book about her childhood and one about interesting characters she had known.
Survivors: Mother, Carolyn Duffin; son, Russel Loren Eller(whom she loved more than anything on this earth) and companion, Shannon Gable; grandchildren, Seth Russell and Sage Eilyse Eller; sister, Rhonda Duffin; brother Rick Duffin; nephew, Jason Duffin and wife, Stephanie; nieces, Staci Stanglin and husband, Mike and Haley Duffin; two grandnieces and many loving and tolerant friends.
