Edward "Ed" Fegley

Mansfield - Edward (Ed) Fegley, 87, passed away on July, 26th, 2020 at a Mansfield Texas hospital. He was born on September 27, 1932 in Frederick, IL, the son of David H. and Lydia E. (Cunningham) Fegley. Ed graduated from Rushville High School, IL, Class of 1951. Following high school he married his high school sweetheart, Mary Lou Bollinger and enlisted in the military in 1952. Ed served 20 years both the Navy and Air Force and was stationed 2 years in the Viet Nam conflict. Following his years of service, Ed was a manager in the quick service restaurant industry then a finished his career with the Fort Worth, Texas based Miller Brewery, retiring after 20 years. Ed and Mary Lou celebrated 68 years of marriage in November.
Following retirement, Ed and Lou relocated to Rockport, Texas, where he was an active volunteer at the Corpus Christi Texas Acquarium, the Texas Maritime Museum, Castaways Thrift Shop and the First Presbyterian Church. He had a love of baseball and westerns, and a passion for cooking. Ed loved to host family and friends for BBQ's, fried chicken, or catfish and hush puppies. Baking was also a passion, especially his famous cherry pies. A typical morning in Rockport would find Ed and Lou walking the beach followed by coffee with friends at the local Whataburger.
In addition to his parents, he was predeceased by siblings, Jim, Marguerita, Eldon, Virginia, Nellie, and Norma. Surviving in addition to his wife, are daughter Teresa Young and her husband Chet of Prospect Heights, IL, son Stephen Fegley and his wife, Cheri of Mansfield, TX, son Craig Fegley and his wife, Susan of Driftwood, TX, and daughter Kim Clay of Arlington, TX; 10 grand children, Thomas Young, Stephen Young, Cory Fegley, Skylar Fegley, Bryce Fegley, Caitlin Fegley, Russell Fegley, Sarah Fegley, Daniel Clay and Kyle Clay; and 5 great grandchildren, Brandon Fegley, Kendal Fegley, Nate Clay, Carter Fegley and Logan Fegley.
A service of remembrance will be held at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 12th at Skyvue Funeral Home in Mansfield, Texas. Interment will be at the Dallas-Fort Worth National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made the the Alzheimer's Foundation of America, alzfdn.org.
NOTE: Skyvue is limiting services to a maximum of 50 people do to COVID-19 restrictions. Additionally the National Cemetery has a limitation of 10 attendees.
