Denis F. Flanagan

October 9, 1937 — December 30, 2018

Denis F. Flanagan, age 81 of Mansfield, TX, passed away peacefully on Sunday, December 30, 2018 at home. He was born on October 9, 1937, in Bronx, N.Y. to James and Winifred (O’Doherty) Flanagan. He was a devoted Husband, Father, and Grandfather. He was a proud American patriot and U.S. Navy Veteran.
Denis married Sandra L. Flanagan (Gentile) on August 25, 1962. They were married 56 years.
Denis worked for American Airlines in Crew Scheduling for more than 30 years. He will be remembered for his great sense of humor, always the life of family reunions (shucking the clams), and his quick witt. There was never a doubt on what or how he felt. Denis loved his family enormously. He was a wonderful role model for his children and grandsons; particularly, how a man should be as a grandfather, father, brother and especially husband. He did enjoy his cups of hot tea and wouldn’t mind sitting down with you to discuss stocks and investments; as he always had that handy calculator readily available.
Denis is survived by his spouse Sandra L. Flanagan (Gentile) of Mansfield, TX.
Daughters: Sandra (Flanagan) Fossett; and husband Robert Fossett. Bernice Flanagan; and Andy Kimball.
Grandsons: Tommy Fleming, James, John, Jeremy & Joel Fowler, and Bradley Daniels.
Great Grandchildren: Brylen, Crimson, Sage & Scarlett.
Sister: Patricia McGlinchey and husband George of N.Y., and Brother in law John Caffrey of N.Y., many nieces and nephews.
Denis was preceded in death by his Daughter Monica Flanagan and Son Denis Flanagan Jr., along with his parents, 4 sisters and 2 brothers.
There will be a private graveside service for Denis at the Mansfield City Cemetery.
