Florence Ebun Adeyemi has peacefully passed away on January 22, 2025, at the age of 75.
Florence’s beautiful journey began on May 18, 1949, in Ora, Kwara State, Nigeria. She was born to Ishola Bakare and Aishat Ajoke Bakare of Ifelodun Local Government – a family rich in tradition and values that shaped the compassionate and driven woman she would become.
Florence’s journey in education began at ECWA Girls Secondary School in Omu-Aran. She remained at the same school for her teachers’ College Program, deepening her love for learning and teaching. It was at ECWA School Oke-Daba, where she began her teaching career, that her path crosses with the man who would become the love of her life – Jonathan Adeyemi. Their shared values and dreams brought them together, and they married in October 1971, embarking on a lifelong partnership built on love, faith, and devotion.
In 1979, Florence followed her husband to the United States, where she continued to pursue her education. She enrolled at Philander Smith College, an HBCU in Little Rock, Arkansas, where she earned her Bachelor of History.
More than her accomplishments, Florence will be remembered for her warmth and kindness that radiated from her heart. She found her greatest joy in her family, raising her children with unwavering love, and guiding them with wisdom. Her grandchildren, friends, and extended family were her pride and joy, and she cherished each moment spent with them, making everyone she encountered feel valued and supported.
Florence was a member of African Baptist Church in Irving, ECWA Church in Ora, Kwara-State, Nigeria, and Covenant Church in Carrollton. She enjoyed cooking, singing – especially in the church choir, spending time with her loved ones, and traveling.
The Family would like to acknowledge her children, grandchildren, and all of her family and friends for their unwavering car and love. A heartfelt thank you to her longtime caregivers at Plaza of Richardson, Classic Life Home Health, Mr. Ibrahim Ajayi, Ms. Happiness, and Ms. Faith for their compassionate and attentive care.
Though she is no longer with us, her memory will forever be a source of inspiration, comfort, and love. Her story wis one of hope, courage, and the enduring power of family, and she will be dearly missed but never forgotten.
Florence is preceded in death by her husband of 51 years, Mr. Jonathan Buremo Adeyemi.
Those left to cherish Florence's memory are her daughters, Dr. Mrs. Olabisi Janet Oladapo and Dr. Adewale Oladapo, Ms. Adesola Adeyemi, Ms. Nikky Adeyemi, and Mrs. Jumoke Bakinde and Mr. Akeem Bakinde; her son, Mr. Olalekan James Adeyemi and Mrs. Mayowa Adeyemi; her grandchildren, Tayo Daniel Adeyemi, Destiny Dupe Clayborn, Tosin Joshua Adeyemi, Rayvn Sade Clayborn, Ife Bakinde, Martin Bakinde, Mayowa Bakinde, as well as many more loving family members, extended family, and friends.
Rest in peace, Florence Ebun Adeyemi. You have left this world brighter because you were in it.
