Laura Earlene Guel, 83, passed away on Sunday, April 12, 2020.
Service: A private graveside service is scheduled. A celebration of life will be scheduled at a later date. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations please be made to Blessed Hope Baptist Church, in Kennedale, Texas.
Laura was born on October 21, 1936 to Andrew Gordon and Idena Aarons, in Fort Worth, Texas. After graduating high school, she joined the Army serving as a nurse when she met the father of her children, Daniel Leroy Edwards. She was an LVN at various hospitals before she went to work for Portion Trol Foods and finished her career at the Star Telegram where she retired.
She loved Jesus, and over the years she attended Mansfield Assembly of God, in Mansfield, Texas, Living Water Baptist Church and Blessed Hope Church, in Kennedale, Texas. While attending Living Waters Baptist Church, Laura served as a prayer chain consultant and organizer. Laura loved to pray, read, play bingo, fill out the crossword puzzles in the New York Times, and was known for always sending out birthday cards. She was the Matriarch of the family and she often filled the roll of mother, grandmother, great-grandmother to many family members and friends. Her loving smile and caring spirit will be deeply missed.
Laura is preceded in death by her father, Andrew Kelsey Gordon; mother, Idena Aarons; siblings, Jimmy Lee Gordon, Donald Dean Gordon, Betty Jo Gordon, Joyce Annette Gordon. Grandson; Jeremy Shawn Overton and Nephews Dwayne and Timothy Gordon.
She is survived by her loving daughters, Diana Lee Carpenter, Linda Sue Handley, Hannah May Alvarado; sons, Daniel Leroy Edwards (Susan), Andrew Joseph Dean Edwards; grandchildren, Christy Plumlee (Michael) , Cody Overton (Julie), Wesley Overton, Danielle Salagaras (Lucas), Michael Alvarado, Tommy Toomer, Ricky Alvarado (Amanda), Dylan Alvarado, Hannah Altergott (Joe), Chelsea Kowaleski (Aaron), Hayden Edwards (Bridget), Mary Edwards; great-grandchildren, Kaylin, Lanie, Cade, Brennan, Cody, James, Ashlyn, Skyler, Lex, Christen, Daniel, Lyla, Cooper, Eve, Ross, Ryan, Joey, Jamie, Derek; nieces, Candy, Laurie, Melodie, Pamela, Janice, Sharon, Virginia, Glenda, Carla, Jamie; nephews, Donald, Scotty, Billy; numerous other extended family members and friends.
