Jerry Hensley, 57, an ordained minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ and Mansfield Police Officer passed away Tuesday, Oct. 28, 2014.
Funeral: 1 p.m. Saturday at The Church On Rush Creek, 2350 SW Green Oaks Blvd., Arlington. Burial: Skyvue Memorial Gardens. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Skyvue Funeral Home.
Jerry was born to Joe William Hensley and Hazel Jacobs in Fort Worth, TX on November 7, 1956. He previously worked for the Dr. Pepper Bottling Company. A 14 year veteran of the Mansfield Police Department Lieutenant Hensley was currently serving as an Operations Lieutenant for the Mansfield Jail Division. Jerry served in several ranks and capacities to include Officer, Sergeant, Lieutenant and the Jail Administrator. He played a major role in the implementation of policy and procedures, conducted interviews, lead orientation of new employees, and set the beginning of several new officer's careers as they began in Jail Operations. Jerry was a leader, mentor, and counselor to new officers.
Lieutenant Hensley received several recognitions with his tenure at the Mansfield Jail Division receiving the following:

Field Training Supervisor
Multiple commendations
In addition, Lieutenant Hensley was a recent graduate of the Senior Leadership Development program at Sam Houston University. He completed the "Organization Leadership" program with the Jail Association. In addition, Jerry was a graduate of the Developing Leaders for Texas Law Enforcement sponsored by the Texas Police Chiefs Association.
Jerry was proceeded in death by his mother, Hazel Jacobs Pribble and his father, Joe William Hensley.
He is survived by his wife of 40 years, Carolyn Davis Hensley; son, Jeremy Hensley and wife Lacy; daughter, Amber Hensley Sharp and husband Chris; five grandchildren, Damien, Hayden, and Baby Sharp and Jackson and Joshua Hensley; Sister, Debbie Hensley Mullins and husband, Jim; brother, Jay Hensley and wife Rita brother, Jeff Hensley and wife Cindy; mother-in-law, Johnnie Davis; Nephew, Joey Hensley and wife Sabra; nieces, Jamie Hensley Stevenson and husband Cory, Lindsey Hensley, Tammie, Crystal and Jae Mullins; numerous great nieces and nephews, friends, co-workers and former band mates.
