Jimmy Celtyn Hughes, 66, died on April 30, 2018, at home in Burleson, Texas, surrounded by his family, having lost his battle with bladder and bone cancer.
Memorial service: 7 pm Monday, May 14, at Skyvue Victoria Chapel.
Celtyn was born in Bridgeport, Texas, on September 21, 1951, to James Celtyn and Virginia Nell (Forsyth) Hughes. Celtyn played football from elementary through high school, always a running back through many fields full of stickers. He was a 1970 graduate of Bridgeport High School. In 1969 he married his high school sweetheart, Karen Foreman in Bridgeport. They had two beautiful children together Jennifer Claudette, and Nicole Roxanne Hughes. He graduated from North Texas State University in 1976 with a BBA in accounting and ultimately became a CPA. He worked for Texas Industries (TXI) for 40 years, finishing as their Chief Financial Officer with Gerdeaiu Ameristeel, a former TXI subsidiary.
He is remembered by his wife Cheryl; brother, Mike Hughes; daughters, Jennifer Cass and husband James, Nicole Malicoat and husband Anthony; step-daughters, Kathryn and Rebecca Kerr; grandchildren, Cade and Madison Hartnett, Olivia and Maren Cass, and Knox Malicoat; Additional survivors include Dianne Hughes, Misty Hughes Roberts and family, Micah Hughes and family, Alyssa, Haylo and Olive Malicoat; Jim and Katie Erickson; Joe and John Wycoff, Clinton S. Dennis, his many friends, including Fred Meyers, Glen Reed, Danny Culpupper, Robert Crawford, Dick Joffre and countless more.
