Born the third of 6 children, James Edward Wright was born to Louis B. Wright Sr & Lorine Calhoun Wright on February 15, 1949, in Texarkana, Texas.
As a young adolescent he attended Theron Jones Elementary. He then attended Paul Lawrence Dunbar Junior & Senior High School where he graduated as Salutatorian of his senior class. He attended Texarkana College, Prairie View A &M College, University of Arlington, where he received his Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering. James worked at Parkland Hospital, Dallas, TX; Red River Army Depot – (Computer Analyst), Texarkana, TX; Texas Instruments, Dallas, TX, where he traveled internationally to master and educate new computer systems. Lastly, he worked at Abbott Laboratories, Dallas, TX, where he retired after 39 years. James joined the Bethel Seventh-day Adventist Church, Texarkana, TX. Upon relocating to Fort Worth, TX, he joined the Grace Temple Seventh-day Adventist Church. James was one of the Church Planters for the Total Victory Seventh-day Adventist Church which later became Forest Hill Seventh-day Adventist Church, Forest Hill, TX. At the time of his death, James was a member of Grace Temple Seventh-day Adventist Church, Fort Worth, Texas. He served as Sabbath School Superintendent, Elder, Church Treasurer, Sabbath School teacher, Board Member, and Choir Director in the cities where he lived. One of his specialties was conducting Revelation Seminars and conducting Bible studies to help spread the gospel of Jesus Christ. He was a faithful steward and worked very hard to maintain or repair the different churches as needed. He loved to conduct Branch Sabbath Schools or help to create small church companies. James was also an installer of sound systems, video projectors, and video screens for many churches. James’ Hobbies included: Landscaping, gardening, and auto mechanics. He was fond of repairing electrical devices and all appliances. He was a self-taught pianist. If you were ever looking for James, you could always find him at either Home Depot or Lowe’s. James loved being in nature, but his ultimate goal and love was winning souls for Christ.
James married his best friend, lovely wife, and confidant, the former Patricia Brookins on September 9, 1973. To this union three children were born: Janna Wright, James Wright II, and Patrick Wright. He was a faithful husband, father, grandfather, and provider for his family. He always gave his wisdom and encouragement, along with helping many people over the years who sought his expertise.
He was preceded in death by his parents, youngest brother Gerald Wayne Wright and oldest brother Louis Burn Wright Jr.
James is survived by his wife, Patricia Wright; Daughter, Janna Wright, Fort Worth, TX; James Wright II (Shamyra) Ft Worth, TX; Patrick Wright (Chovani) Ft. Worth, TX; his siblings: Pastor Billy E. Wright (Aletha), Ft Worth, TX; Avice Wright, Texarkana, TX; Lois Brookins (Calvin), Fort Worth TX; Sister in- laws: Cherri Wright, Greta Wright, Cheryl Brookins, Linda Zachary, and Cynthia Lynch, all of Fort Worth; and Betty Morris of Cushing, Oklahoma, and Dorothy Boone of Fairmouth, MN. Brother-in-laws: Calvin Brookins & James Brookins of Fort Worth, and Walter Martin of Atlanta, GA. Grandchildren: Janae Wright; Jaiden Wright; Jorden Wright, and Simone Wright, who affectionately called him “Poppy” and a host of nieces, nephews, and cousins.
