Joyce Fay Jamison was born in Bexar, Alabama to Flora Rena Colburn & Douglas Ray Johnson on August 25th, 1947. She passed away the morning of May 23rd, 2016 in the home of her daughter & son-in-law in Arlington, TX surrounded by her family. Joyce was raised by her mother in Chicago, Illinois along with her two brothers, Donnie & William Johnson. She later would marry & give birth to a beautiful baby girl on October 19, 1971, who was truly her miracle baby. The start of her new adult life was a hard road, but she turned to God for help and served in the children’s ministry of the Church of Christ & taught bible study every weekend in Mississippi. She later got a divorce and became a single mother raising an 8 year old little girl. She later worked in a gas station as a store clerk & it was at this job that she met the love her life. In life Joyce, was the historian of the family, she loved telling her grand children many stories, but her favorite story to tell was the day she fell in love with a stubborn, hot headed & good looking Mississippi police officer who she would later marry. She married Robert Lamar Jamison April, 9th 1980 at which time she moved her family to Arlington, Texas. In Texas, her and Lamar continued to scrape by for their family & suffered many hardships, but Joyce had her family & it was solely this that brought her comfort and strength. Joyce worked in the medical distribution field as an assistant administrator. Joyce had the blessing of helping raise 3 grand daughters who were her world. She was an amazing wife, mother and grandmother helping in steal family traditions that still to this day her family still honor. Joyce loved bringing her family together over food, and loved teaching all the old family recipes. She loved helping make all the holidays magical for her loved ones & never passed up a moment to please her sweet tooth with all the holiday goodies she could find. Joyce loved all sci-fi movies & you would have to fight her time to time for the remote. In life, Joyce was a loving, caring, protective, supportive person who had a little bit of a wild side, who was deeply loved by her family. Joyce always strived to bring her extended family together & never missed a moment to reach out to all of her loved ones. She never let anyone, anything or even time hold her back from accomplishing her goals & dreams. Joyce received her high school diploma late in her life & even got a tattoo at the age of 66! Joyce is survived by her husband, Lamar Jamison, her daughter Renee’ Loya, Son-in-Law, Juan Loya, 3 grand children Laryssa, Karlee & Destiny, 3 great grand children Allie, Jason & Lily, adoptive daughter, Angela Kent & adoptive grand daughter, Brittani Firsick.
