Doris Jean Johnson was born January 18, 1932, in Thornton, Texas to the late Edward and Jessie Martin Jones.
The family later moved to Fort Worth, Texas where Doris attended I.M. Terrell High School. Known for being a talented seamstress, Doris enjoyed cooking and spending time with her family and friends.
Doris Jean Johnson departed this life on December 9, 2021. She is preceded in death by her father and mother; stepfather, Aubrey L. Jones; husband, M.J. Gates; sister, Edna M. Franklin; daughter, Cynthia D. Johnson; son Charles A. Johnson III.
