David Mathew Keerins was born in Eastern Oregon and attended high school in
Portland, Oregon. While in high school, he met Cheri McClendon. Cheri moved to
Hawaii and soon after, Dave followed and they were married there in 1974. Their
daughters, Melissa and Melanie were born in Hawaii.

In 1986, Dave and his family moved to Crowley, Texas so he could attend the
Southwestern Baptist Theological Seminary, where he graduated with a master’s
degree in Communications. During this time, he also began his 27 year membership at
Travis Avenue Baptist Church where he was a big part of the media group and later ran
the sound for the services for many years. After graduating, one of his positions was at
International Teaching Ministries. During this job, he had the opportunity to travel to
Romania, Hungary and Moldova for missions.
.
Dave’s favorite job came later at Trinity Valley School in Fort Worth, Texas. He was the
Technical Theater Director and taught students technical theater arts, such as building
stage sets, lighting, sound, videography and photography. He was a beloved teacher
who very much enjoyed his students and his work.

In 2016, Dave and Cheri moved to Arvada, Colorado to be near their daughters. Dave
entered a special medication study for patients with Parkinson’s and Lewy Body
Dementia to help advance this science.

He will be remembered as a kind soul who loved his family. He shared his love of
science fiction with his girls, who loved taking him to the latest sci-fi movies. Dave also
loved theater and enjoyed attending plays and discussing the technical aspects of
theater. Dave was never without a book and he was passionate about photography and
always had a camera with him. He also loved living in Hawaii, where he took up SCUBA
– something else he passed along to his daughters.
