On September 18, 2024, Kelly Keith Blomdahl, aged 78, breathed his last breaths at his home in Mansfield, TX, and entered his heavenly home to meet Jesus. Kelly suffered the last seven months with an aggressive stage 4 angiosarcoma cancer.
Kelly was born on September 1, 1946, in Brady, TX, to Beda Knight Blomdahl and Maynard Blomdahl. Kelly was raised in the cities of Brady, TX, Mountain Grove, MO, Dallas, TX, and Grand Prairie, TX. Kelly attended high school at Kimball High School in Dallas and participated in ROTC. He graduated from Grand Prairie High School in 1964, while working full time at his father’s gas station, Swede’s Texaco. In 1966, Kelly married Cheryl Gibson, and they later had two daughters: Monica and Natalie. Kelly worked at Central Freight Lines in Dallas before beginning what would be a lifelong career in the insurance business. Kelly graduated from the University of Texas at Arlington with a degree in Business Administration. Kelly worked as an independent insurance agent with his own business, Blomdahl Financial Services. Kelly married Susan Passmore in November 2010, and they spent the last 14 years in Mansfield, TX.
Kelly became a Christian at the age of 18. Over his adult years, he was a member at First Baptist Dallas, First Baptist Euless, Lamar Baptist Church in Arlington, Walnut Ridge Baptist Church in Mansfield, and Christ’s Chapel in Fort Worth. He served as a deacon at several of these churches and was a Bible study teacher at all of them. He participated in Evangelism Explosion, where he learned to boldly proclaim his faith and share the Gospel. For the last 14 years, he has held a bi-monthly Bible study in his home.
In his earlier years, Kelly loved playing golf and going hunting. He always enjoyed watching football and spending time with friends. While living at home, he used Facebook to share some kind of spiritual insight on an almost daily basis. His optimism and encouragement made his posts unforgettable.
Kelly is survived by his wife, Susan Blomdahl, his two daughters, Monica McDonald (Tannen) of Keller, TX, and Natalie Briggs (John) of Burleson, TX, step-daughters Lori Everage (Cliff) of Fort Worth, TX, and Amanda Richerson (Dana) of Burleson, TX, and grand-children Sterling White of Burleson, TX, Brock and Brady McDonald of Keller, TX, Max Everage (Mya) of Lake Worth, TX, Nicholai Everage of Saginaw, TX, Zachery Richerson of Mansfield, TX, and Devin and Landon Richerson of Burleson, TX. He is also survived by his sister, Elaine Marsh (Mike) of Sherman, TX.
Kelly’s warmth, sense of humor, bold witnessing of his faith, and storytelling will be deeply missed by all who knew him. His legacy of love will continue to inspire those who had the privilege of knowing him.
