Kim T. Sharp of Clifton, Texas, formerly of Hurst, Texas, was called to his heavenly home October 26, 2024, in Temple, Texas at the age of 71.
Kim was born June 1, 1953, in Fort Worth, Texas to James William Kenneth Sharp and Genella Margarette Gilley Sharp. He graduated from Crowley High School in 1971 where he was the quarterback of their football team. He found his love for Christ and attended the First Baptist Church of Crowley, Texas. He solidified his love for Arlettia Roberts Sharp by marrying her on January 30, 1996, in Kaufman, Texas.
Kim worked for Haley’s Meat Market in Crowley, Texas, processing beef as a young man. He was part owner of a processing plant in Dublin, Texas, worked for Worth Grocery in Fort Worth, Pengo Wireline Department in Everman, Texas, Sam’s Club in Lewisville cutting meat then moved to Walmart in North Richland Hills, Fort Worth and Mansfield. He retired from Walmart after 23 years and was manager over the meat department and the deli.
He learned to hunt and fish at an early age being taught by his dad. His family spent many weekends at Benbrook Lake camping and fishing. His parents later purchased property in Port O’Conner, Texas where Kim and his dad built a house. Many weekends and vacations were spent enjoying the coast and fishing in Matagorda Bay.
He was a devoted dad to his daughter Kristal. He took her with him fishing at an early age. Teaching her to fish was a bond that they enjoyed from that point forward in both of their lives. He enjoyed being a stepdad to Brian and watching him grow up. He coached his baseball and all stars team. He enjoyed trips to Disney World and a lot of fishing. He really enjoyed sharing his love of fishing and hunting with all his kids and taking the grandkids fishing whenever possible. He loved being a dad, stepdad but his favorite joy was being “K-Pa” to his six grandchildren. He enjoyed watching the three oldest grandkids grow up, graduate from college and fulfill their careers as adults. He also enjoyed watching the three younger grand babies grow up and was amazed at their wonderful personalities. He would enjoy a tea party and playing games with them. He would listen to them read to him. When they would come to the lake, he would take them on golf cart rides and trips out on the boat. He was very proud of all his children and their accomplishments in life. He was a great dad. He was proud of both his son-in-laws for their military service and their accomplishments. Having children that lived all over the country and the world, he would enjoy taking trips to visit them wherever they lived.
In 2014, Kim fulfilled his lifelong dream of living at the lake. After some persuasion he and his wife purchased a little house at Lake Whitney. He then had a 30x40 shop built and bought a boat. He loved for his kids and grandkids to come visit at the lake. He would take them out on the boat and go fishing. Anytime family or friends would come to visit, fish was always on the menu. One of Kim’s other loves was cooking, trying new recipes or even coming up with his own and sharing them with everyone. He liked to watch cooking shows. He was in charge of making dressing during Thanksgiving and Christmas. If daughters were cooking, he enjoyed being their sous chef cutting up the vegetables for their recipes. He also dabbled in making his own wine for a while. He was always ready to try something new.
Kim is preceded in death by his parents, Kenneth and Genella Sharp; brother, Mike Sharp.
His legacy will be continued and cherished through those whom he is survived by including his loving wife, Arlettia Sharp; daughter, Kristal Pegram and husband Brian; step-daughter, Magyn Whitaker and husband Nathan; step-sons, Wes McDaniel, Brian Burns and wife Nioka; sister, Lissa Watson and husband Glenn; grandchildren, Coby, Lauryn and Kyle Whitaker, Bailey and Charlotte Pegram, Genenvieve Burns; nieces, Donna Jacobs, Amy Veselka, Lesa Smaligo, Candy Burden, and Lacey Warren; nephews, Ethan Watson, Michael Parkey, Robert Parkey, and Walt Jolly, along with numerous friends.
