Jerry Jerome King, fearless and loving patriarch, passed away Friday, September 18, 2020 at the age of 58.
Originally from Rockford, Illinois, Jerry knew the value of hard work. As a determined young man, he headed to Texas and became a Master Electrician. His work turned to passion and that passion turned into a prosperous general contracting business focusing in the restaurant industry. Although Jerry was incredibly driven professionally, he was most proud of his growing family. His children Alicia, Heather & Jerry Jr. were the most important thing to him although never more so than when they made him a Papa. Together with the love of his life of 23 years, Vickie, they enjoyed their 8 grandchildren. He could certainly be accused of spoiling the grandkids with elaborate toys, hugs that were “too tight”, and an excessive amount of “knuckles”. As Jerry’s health deteriorated, his biggest focus in life became making memories with his family; he was especially known for elaborate Christmas displays that could be seen from Google Earth and an annual 4th of July fireworks show that could rival most sporting events.
Jerry is survived by his mother and step-father, Fran and Rich Akey. His partner in life, Vickie King, his children and their spouses, Alicia and Jason Davidson, Heather and Cavan Chuan, Michelle and Jerry King Jr, Emily and Derek Bennett, Kristi and Nick Bennett; and his 8 grandchildren, Cayden, Ty, Maveryk, Kyle, Kaylee, Tara, Gracelynn, and Ellyson.
He is preceded in death by his father, Charles King.
A Visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 22th at Skyvue Funeral Home in Mansfield at 6pm. The Memorial Service will be the next day (Wednesday, September 23th) at 10am also at Skyvue.
In lieu of flowers, the family prefers donations made in Jerry King's honor to the Fort Worth Stock Show Syndicate, an organization dedicated to helping the youth of Texas continue its strong tradition in the field of agriculture. PO Box 17005 Fort Worth, TX 76102.
