Richard Kirsch’s life was rich and full. A family man who nurtured and loved his children and many grandchildren. He was known as a tender man with a gruff demeanor.
Dickie’s first job was throwing papers for the North Side News, for which he was paid $1.00. His take home pay was 98 cents after Social Security.
He attended Mount Carmel Academy elementary school, graduated from Laneri High School in 1957, and received his degree in accounting from Saint Mary’s University of San Antonio in 1961.
Richard retired from the Burlington Northern Santa Fe Railroad in 2001. He excelled as a bowler and was an avid golfer. Reading was a passion and he was never without a book nearby. He also loved to play dominoes and card games where he was a tough competitor. He and Carolyn supported his grand children by attending sports and activities where they were participants, regardless of the location or weather. Family came first for Richard.
Richard was preceded in death by his son, Brent Kirsch.
