Lila Lee Kneschk

February 17, 1935 – August 20, 2024

With hearts full of love and memories, we announce the peaceful passing of Lila Lee Kneschk, who left this world on August 20, 2024, in Keene, Texas, at the age of 89. Born in Hamilton, Texas, on February 17, 1935, to Paul and Elizabeth Yeager Shipman, Lila lived a life marked by unwavering commitment to her family, quiet strength, and remarkable resilience. Her tenacity, work ethic, and devotion to those she loved defined her.

In 1951, Lila married Marvin Kneschk in Meridian, Texas. Together, they raised two daughters, Deborah Kneschk and Lisa Batterton, and shared many years of life’s joys and challenges. After Marvin’s passing in 1984, Lila remained a devoted mother and found love and companionship throughout her life. Her stories and reflections in her later years gave insight into a heart that held many deep and personal connections.

For 26 years, Lila served as the heart of the Public Safety Office at Tarrant County Junior College, where she became a quiet pillar of strength for the many law enforcement officers she admired so deeply. Her respect for their courage and dedication resonated through the stories she lovingly shared, even long after she retired in 2004.

Lila’s nurturing spirit wasn’t confined to people alone. With a green thumb that seemed almost magical, she cultivated a vibrant sanctuary full of life. Her home was a haven for plants of all kinds, a space where flowers bloomed and greenery thrived under her care. Outside, her connection to nature was just as profound. Like a modern-day Snow White, she cared for the squirrels and birds in her yard, feeding them daily with a tender devotion. Lila believed her gentle stewardship of these creatures was a calling from God, and she approached it with reverence and love.

Her home was always filled with warmth, laughter, and a good story or two of days gone by. She shared her wisdom, her joy, and her faith with her loved ones, leaving behind a legacy of kindness and grace.

Lila is now reunited with her beloved daughter, Deborah, and many family members who have gone before her. She is survived by her daughter Lisa Batterton, Lisa's husband David Batterton, her granddaughters Kayla Goins, Kayla’s husband Ray Goins, and Ashley Batterton, as well as her great-grandson Titus Matthews, all of whom will forever cherish the memories of their "Mawmaw."

Family and friends are invited to celebrate Lila’s life on Monday, August 26, 2024, with visitation at 11:00 am at Skyvue Funeral Home in Mansfield, Texas, followed by services at 12:00 pm.

In Lila's memory, may we all strive to live with the same quiet grace and love for the world that she so beautifully embodied.

"When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?" Psalms 8: 3-4
