Linda Fay James McSwain, lovingly known as “Fay” entered this life on October 28, 1957, to Robert and Ada Mae James in Fentress, Texas. Linda, a beloved sister, wife, mother, aunt, and friend, passed away with her family by her side on Saturday, September 14, 2024.
Linda was the cherished wife of Samuel Andre McSwain for 39 beautiful years. Together, they built a loving family and created countless memories. She was the devoted mother of Andrea McSwain-Alexius and Samuel Andrew McSwain, who were truly her pride and joy.
A longtime resident of Fort Worth, Texas, Linda was known for her vibrant personality, grit, and unwavering spirit. Linda never met a stranger, and she valued spending time with family. She was a member of The Potter’s House of Fort Worth, and she loved to attend service at Clearview Baptist Church in Kingsbury, Texas. She earned her Associate of Arts degree from Tarrant County College, followed by a Bachelor of Science from Texas Wesleyan University. Linda served her community as an entrepreneur and educator for 20 years, owning and operating International Renowned Beauty Academy which graduated and licensed over a thousand cosmetology students. Her passion for inspiring and uplifting others was evident to all who knew her. One of Linda’s favorite quotes was: “A mastered skill is one that is practiced.”
Linda was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Ada Mae James, and her siblings: William Charles, Willie Ray James (Mary), Dorothy Miles (Albert), Robert James Jr. (Ann), and Thomas James.
She leaves to cherish her legacy— her loving husband, Samuel Andre; her children, Andrea, and Samuel Andrew; her sisters, Katie Green, Myrtle Taylor, and Arlene Williams (Earnest); three brothers-in-law, three sisters-in-law, and a host of other family members and friends who will miss her deeply.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Juneteenth Jubilee Association in Linda’s name. The family extends their heartfelt gratitude to all the family members and friends who have shown support during this difficult time.
Linda’s warmth, laughter, and love will forever be remembered, and she will be deeply missed by all who had the privilege of knowing her.
