Linda Jan Russell, a dedicated registered nurse whose compassion and expertise touched the lives of many, has passed away on August 18, 2023. She was a remarkable individual whose career spanned years of service in the medical field, leaving an indelible impact on everyone she encountered.
Born on July 14, 1948, in Houston, Texas, Linda's compassionate nature and love for helping others were evident from an early age. She pursued a career in nursing and flourished in various roles throughout her life. Linda worked diligently in doctors' offices and eventually became the emergency department manager at Harris HEB for over 30 years. Even after retirement, her passion for healthcare remained unwavering as she continued to contribute by helping audit charts.
Linda's commitment to her profession stood as a testament to her character. Patients and colleagues alike were captivated by her warmth, expertise, and genuine concern for their well-being. She took every opportunity to lend a helping hand or a listening ear, creating an atmosphere of comfort and reassurance within the hospital walls.
Beyond her exceptional nursing career, Linda had a zest for life that extended far beyond the confines of work. She cherished animals and even found joy as part of a riding club at one point in her life. Dogs were always by her side as cherished companions. In her leisure time, she loved sports and passionately supported her teams like the Dallas Cowboys and Texas Rangers. NASCAR had also captured her interest more recently.
Linda will be deeply missed by all those who knew and loved her. She is survived by her devoted husband Wayne Russell; daughters Becky Fricks and partner Drew Swanson; sisters Donna Shepherd and Karen (Otto) Fritz; brother Ric (Lee Ann) Starnes; grandchildren Chris (Rachel) Rymer, Cody (Rachel) Rymer and Amanda (Jovany) Sanchez; 12 great-grandchildren consisting of 7 great grandsons and 5 great granddaughters; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, great nieces, and great nephews. Her loving mother Sammie Williams, daughter Julie Vann, and her cherished dog Beau preceded her in death.
A visitation to celebrate Linda's beautiful life will take place on August 28, 2023, from 10:00 AM to 11:00 AM at the Skyvue Funeral Home located at 7220 Rendon Bloodworth Rd in Mansfield, Texas. Following the visitation, a funeral service will be held at the same location from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM.
Linda Jan Russell was an extraordinary woman whose selflessness and love enriched the lives of countless individuals. Her nurturing spirit and dedication to others created a lasting legacy that will continue to inspire generations to come. As we mourn her loss, let us also celebrate the beautiful life she lived and cherish the memories we shared with her.
In lieu of flowers, the Russell family would like donations to be made to the Burleson Animal Shelter.
