Paul Lytle

January 16, 1937 — April 7, 2016

Paul Henry Lytle, 79, passed away Thursday, April 7, 2016.
Funeral: 10:00 am Thursday, April 14, at Skyvue Victoria Chapel. Burial: 1:00 pm Thursday, April 14, at DFW National Cemetery, Grand Prairie, Texas.
Visitation: 6:00-8:00 pm, Wednesday, April 13 at Skyvue Victoria Chapel, Mansfield, Texas.
Paul was born in Asheville, North Carolina on January 16, 1937. His first job at 12 years old was working for Edwin Keith "Banjo" Matthews at his Performance Center near Asheville. This is where Paul’s love for cars developed. He learned how to build and work on cars from Banjo. This is also where Paul built his own vehicle for himself.
At the age of 18, Paul went into the US Air Force where he served from 1955 to 1961, and later worked in insurance and car sales.
His first marriage produced two children, Phillip and Pamela, and when he married Sybil in 1973, he gained step-children Mike and Peggy. Paul leaves behind 14 grandchildren and 17 great-grandchildren.
Most days after retirement, you could find him mowing his yard, playing golf with his friends, or walking his dog Abbey, whom he adored. Paul liked attending church, talking politics, making things out of wood, and all things golf. If you have ever attended the Colonial Golf Tournament, you probably saw Paul helping out with crowd control - a position for which he volunteered every year.
Paul’s love of cars never lessened after childhood. He could tell you the make, model and year of just about any vintage car or truck on the road. There was no one who kept their car as clean as he did.
Paul was an active man with a sharp sense of humor. He will be missed.
Paul was preceded in death by his parents, George and Louis Lytle and brother, Earl Lytle.
He is survived by his wife of 42 years, Sybil; children, Phillip Lytle and wife, Jody, Pamela Stutka, Mike Bowen and wife, Patty, and Peggy Welch; siblings, Bruce Lytle and Nancy Coward; fourteen grandchildren; seventeen great-grandchildren; nephews and nieces; and, many friends.
