Marty Tigertt Stokes, a loving and devoted daughter, wife, stepmother and friend, passed away on August 28, 2023, in Arlington, Texas. She was born on July 14, 1953, in Dallas, Texas. Marty's passing leaves a void in the hearts of her family and friends, but her legacy of love and compassion will forever be remembered.
Marty's diverse career spoke volumes about her versatile nature and her passion for helping others. She started off as a Stock Broker, where she honed her skills and contributed to the financial well-being of countless individuals. Additionally, Marty found fulfillment as a Mary Kay Consultant, empowering women and nurturing their self-confidence through beauty products. Her entrepreneurial spirit also shone through in her role as a Horse Lodge Co-Owner, where she shared her love for horses with enthusiasts.
Education played a significant role in shaping Marty into the remarkable person she became. She studied radio, television, and film before graduating from UT Austin and then went on to become a special education and primary school teacher.
A pillar of strength in both her personal and spiritual life, Marty faithfully attended the Methodist Church as the pastor's wife before later finding solace at the First Presbyterian Church of Lancaster. Her unwavering faith guided her actions and provided comfort during difficult times.
In her free time, Marty found joy in caring for and riding horses. Whether it was tending to their needs or gracefully trotting through open fields, her love for these majestic creatures was palpable.
Marty is preceded in death by her husband, Lewis Norman Stokes; parents, Liz and Carl Tigertt.
Those left behind to cherish her memory are her stepdaughter, Jessica Cole and her husband, Chris Cole; stepson, Jeb Stokes; grandchildren, Christopher and Juniper Cole; dear friend, Trudy Roquemore; and numerous other loving friends and church family.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, September 16th, 2023 at 10am at First United Methodist Church of Lancaster 201 S Dallas Ave., Lancaster, TX 75146.
