Mary Jean Smith, beloved wife, mother, grandmother and friend passed away peacefully on May 30, 2023 at the age of 72.

Mary's life was one of kindness and service. Throughout her career, Mary wore many hats. She was a Dental Hygienist who helped countless patients achieve healthy smiles. She was also a Teacher's Aid, sharing her love for learning with children. Mary Jean cherished her role as a homemaker, nurturing and caring for her family.

Born on December 4, 1950 in Lubbock, Texas to Clifford Sifford and Joyce Hamm (Renfro). Her parents instilled in her a sense of compassion and integrity that she carried with her throughout her life. 

Mary loved life and made the most of every day. One of her favorite pastimes was singing; she had a beautiful voice that would bring joy to those around her. She loved spending time outdoors, whether it be camping or fishing with friends and family. Additionally, Mary was an excellent cook and loved to share her meals with those close to her.

A memorial service to celebrate the life of Mary Jean Smith will be held on June 15, 2023, at 2:00 PM, at Mary's home church, First Baptist Church Godley located at 101 E Allen Ave in Godley, Texas. All who knew Mary are welcome to attend and a meal will be provided for the family before services. The family asks that in lieu of flowers, donations be made to The American Cancer Society.

Mary is preceded in death by her mother, Joyce Hamm; father, Cliff Sifford; step-father, Joe Hamm.

She is survived by her loving husband of 45 years, Clayton Smith; their three beautiful daughters, Jessica Nielsen and husband Charles Nielsen, Megan Smith, Emmy Smith; sister, Patti Hughes; brother, Larry Sifford; grandchildren, Skylar, Mia, Ella, Kash, Brielle, Taytum, Tucker; and one great-grandchild, Xander; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members and dear friends.

Mary will always be remembered for her kindness and compassion towards others. She touched the hearts and lives of everyone she met and will forever hold a special place in their hearts.
