Mary Kathryn (Donahou) Zeito, “Kathy”, passed away peacefully on August 19, 2024, surrounded by loved ones. She was born on January 18, 1951, in Midland, Texas. She was a beautiful light in this world, full of life and she blessed all who knew her.
One cannot know Kathy without knowing what a critical role her family played in the richness of her life. She thought of her friends as an extension of her family. Kathy was empathetic and had a constant devotion to the people in her life, absent of expectation for service in return. She was a woman that demonstrated respect, patience, love, and great sense of humor. Even with a feisty spirit and her stern strength, she made sure everyone felt accepted and cared for.
Kathy shared 49 years of life with George Zeito, Jr. The two of them demonstrated unconditional love and commitment to one another. She was an adoring mother, which transcended into being a wonderful Nanny.
During her lifetime she enjoyed spending time with her family, hosting gatherings (especially the holidays where everyone could not wait to enjoy her cooking). She loved going to the casino and playing slot machines. Poker night and laughing with her family are some of the best memories. She also enjoyed singing karaoke, fishing and traveling. After having the opportunity to live in Egypt and London, she settled in Mansfield, Texas near her family.
Kathy is celebrating her reunion with those that preceded her in death: her children “Baby George” Zeito, III and Keisha Romo Gorman; her parents, Ida Frances McDonald and Rex Donahou; Nancy and George Zeito, Sr. Kathy is survived by her beloved husband, George; her children Reno Romo and his wife, Tracy; Tina Defoe and her husband Terry; Jason Romo and his wife Nijole. Her grandchildren Amanda Rodriquez (Erick); Krista Raef (Khris); her namesake, Mary Kathryn (“Katie”) Romo; Jessica Salazar; Christian Madrid; Matthew Romo; Ashley York (James); Chelsey Defoe; Daniel Romo; Seth Romo; Brandon Velazquez; Amalija Romo; as well as 19 great-grandchildren. Her siblings: Jimmy Donahou (Lydia); Billy Donahou (Harriett); Judy Young; Rhonda Johnson (Joel); Wayne Baugh (Diane); Danny Baugh (Chris James); Betty Hogan (Willie); Sharon Baugh; Shanna Baugh; Johnny Jarrett (Madonna).
The family would like to share gratitude and appreciation to everyone that demonstrates compassion and support during this time. Kathy had a wonderful life and leaves behind a beautiful legacy.
In honor of her daughter Keisha, we would like to share her Psalm: “The Lord is close to the brokenhearted; he rescues those whose spirits are crushed” Psalm 34:18
Despite feeling brokenhearted, Kathy’s spirit will remain in those who loved her and those she loved so well.
