Mildred Maxine Morgan, 88, passed away peacefully on July 6, 2023 after a brief illness, surrounded by her loving family.
Maxine was born August 16, 1934 in Springfield, TN to James Ira Parks and Eddie Frances Parks. She was the eldest of 7 children (Robert Parks, James Parks, Patsy Worthy, Donna Carnahan, Brenda Knight and Eddie Parks). She was raised in Nashville and attended Cohn High School in Nashville, TN.
On July 8, 1950 Maxine married the love of her life, Tommy Clayton Morgan, in Rossville, GA and settled in Nashville where they had 2 children. After raising her children, she worked as a nurse’s aide at a local nursing home. Always with a Servant’s heart, she loved her patients and it filled her with joy. Maxine used her skills later in her life in the care of her husband's illnesses and grandchildren, who called her “Granny”. Family and church were always important to her wherever they lived. This eventually led them to move to Burleson, building homes and sharing property together with their children and grandchildren. Maxine faithfully attended the Burleson Church of Christ with her family and made many great friends with her hospitality.
The greatest joys for Maxine were always gatherings to eat, sing and play music with church friends and family. Always generous and thoughtful throughout her long life, she made sure to remember and celebrate birthdays, wedding anniversaries, graduations and especially holiday dinners at her home.
Maxine was preceded in death by her parents, brother James, and loving husband of 64 years, Tommy. Maxine is survived by her children, Ken Morgan and wife Tamie, Shiela Conder and husband Don, all of Burleson. She is also survived by grandchildren Timothy Conder and wife Laurie, Austin Conder, Kenton Morgan, and Hayden Morgan and wife India, along with great-grandchildren Alexis and Trent Conder.
Visitation will be held 12:00pm (Noon) on July 13, 2023 at Skyvue Funeral Home with services to follow at 1:00 pm. Her burial will immediately follow the funeral service at Skyvue Memorial Gardens.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations to All Star Equestrian Foundation, Alzheimer’s Association or American Cancer Society.
