Michael McCarty
ARLINGTON, Texas — Michael Darwin McCarty, 57, of Arlington, Texas, passed away peacefully in his sleep Thursday, Feb. 16, 2017. Michael was born Oct. 9, 1959, in Trumann.
After graduating from Trumann High in 1978, he received his bachelor of science degree from Arkansas State University in 1984. From there, he went on to have a very successful 18-year career with K-Mart as the western division store planner of the construction and design department.
Thereafter, he continued his career for approximately 12 years with Co-Op Financial Services as a supervisor and a team leader.
Michael will be deeply missed by all that knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John and Dorothy McCarty, and his two older sisters, Janice DuPuis and Linda Knapper.
He is survived by his husband and lifelong partner of almost 26 years, Christopher Reeves; his brother and sister-in-law, Roger and Shelia McCarty of Trumann; his aunt Inez Lee of Chico, Texas; nieces and nephews, great-nieces and great-nephews whom he adored, including but not limited to Brandie McCarty-Cole, Breah McCarty-Adams, Cameron McCarty, Fallon and Tessa Jo Adams, Harry and Conner McCarty and Kaiya Cole, all from Arkansas, and Jackie Elmore of Red Oak, Texas; his god children, whom he loved as his own, Skylar Foster Gilbert and John Foster Gilbert, both from Arlington; many cousins, plus countless friends.
The celebration of life service will be 2:30 p.m. Saturday at Burlway Gardens, 400 Burl Ray St. in Mansfield, Texas.
Because of Michael's love for gardening, plants in lieu of flowers would be greatly appreciated. Burlway Gardens will be accepting deliveries from noon to 4 p.m. Friday and 10 a.m. to noon Saturday.
