Emma Louise McClean, 98, passed away on Wednesday, December 2, 2020 in Fort Worth, TX.
Emmy Lou was born to Warren and Laura Thomas on August 8, 1922 in Emporia, KS. She
graduated from Kansas State University and was an active member of Pi Beta Phi. While in
school Emmy Lou met her husband William “Bob” McClean through different fraternity
functions but didn’t reconnect until after Bob returned from the war. Emmy Lou moved to
Minnesota to be closer to Bob while he was studying at the University of Minnesota. While there
she began to work for General Mills in the Betty Crocker Test Kitchens where she was featured
in the first Betty Crocker picture cookbook. Emmy Lou and Bob were married in 1948 and
relocated to Southern California for his career. While there, she continued to work for Betty
Crocker and appeared on several television shows advertising General Mill’s and Betty
Crocker’s new products. In 1964, the family relocated to Fort Worth, TX where Emmy Lou lived
until her passing. Emmy Lou always held a passion for missions and helping those in need;
which lead her to be a part of many organizations and ministries, including Fort Worth Prayer
Fellowship, PEO, and Women’s Aglow Fellowship. Emmy Lou also loved to sing and would
often lead worship at local nursing homes.
Emmy Lou is survived by her daughter, Debra Hutto and husband, Ricky; son, Timothy McClean
and wife, Bettina; 3 grandchildren; 2 great-grandchildren; and numerous loved ones.
Due to the Covid-19 pandemic a celebration of Emmy Lou’s life will occur at a later time. She
will be buried in a private ceremony at Laurel Land Memorial Park. In lieu of flowers, Emmy
