Karen Antoinette Morgan passed away at 82, on Sunday, July 17, 2022.
Burial: 9:00am Friday, August 5, 2022, at DFW National Cemetery 2000 Mountain Creek Pkwy, Dallas, TX 75211.
Memorial Service: 10:30am Friday, August 5, 2022, at First Methodist Church, 777 N Walnut Creek Dr., Mansfield, TX 76063.
Karen was raised on a farm by Mr. Claire W. Stockdale and Opal Reeves in Longton, KS. She grew up wanting to be a teacher and was the first to not only get a Bachelor’s but a Master’s degree in college. After college while working, she meets Michael Clark Morgan, they married July 29, 1967 and a year later her son Kyle Clark Morgan was born.
Karen went on to teach 30 years in the Albuquerque Public Schools, in the special education department. While teaching she was a member of the Epilson Sigma Alpha and was selected as the outstanding member for the entire state of New Mexico in 1995. After she retired, she and Mike moved to Mansfield, TX to be closer to Kyle.
Karen was eager to get involved with the First United Methodist Church and quickly joined UMW – United Methodist Women, a group that she then became the Vice-President of the UMW Unit, then President, then on to become the First President of the New East District of the Central Texas Conference. While Karen was a woman of God, she was also a wonderful Wife, Mother, Mimi, and Friend.
Karen is survived by her son Kyle & Kelly (his wife), her grandson Aden Michael Morgan, her Second cousins Allida Branton and Marla Briggs and their families.
