Robert was a colorful, hardworking man and a successful entrepreneur most of his life. He first owned a roofing business and later transitioned into owning and operating a transmission shop, Burrows Transmission. He was very independent and enjoyed self-employment, but his passion in life was stock car racing. He was a fierce competitor and successful in the sport for nearly half of a century. He began his racing career at the old Benbrook speedway and competed at some level well up into age. He made many friends through the sport of racing. He was also affectionately known as “PawPaw” to his grandchildren, and he loved being PawPaw.
Robert is preceded in death by his parents; daughter, Mary; and grandson, Robert.
Robert is survived by his companion of 18 years, Cecelia Trammell, and her large, loving family; three sons, Robby, Johnny and Melinda, and Billy and Nonnie; five grandchildren, Brittany, Brian, Samantha, Ashley, Shannon, and Laura; several great-grandchildren and a host of extended family and friends.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in memory of Robert Burrows to the Humane Society of North Texas.
