Roxay Ann Sanders, our loving Mother, Grandmother, Sister, and Cherished Friend walked into the gates of Heaven on Monday April 28, 2014. Service: 10 a.m. Thursday in Skyvue Victoria Chapel. Visitation: 6 to 8 p.m. Wednesday at Skyvue Funeral Home.
She was born to Norman and Kenny Sanders on January 28, 1945 in Robstown, TX. She grew up on the North Side of Fort Worth where she met her husband Franklin D. Sladovnik. Together they brought two wonderful children Tammie and Jeff into the world. After Frank's passing in 1966, Roxay met and married Gary C. Brooks. To this union, Nancie was born. Roxay and Gary moved to Crowley in 1973 and raised their family. Their home became the gathering place where many nights were filled with laughter and lasting friendships; resulting in the family's reputation as "The 5 Funny Folks from Fort Worth". Roxay was a devout Christian and raised her children to love one another. She taught them the importance of family, salvation, respect, manners, domestic skills, and compassion for others. She had the greenest thumb that could grow anything in her garden. She loved the beauty that God created in this world and made her home reflect His creation. Her craft skills were like no other and loved sharing her creativity with everyone she knew. She took every opportunity to share her faith; always taking the time to spread the word of God. Due to her warmth, compassion and witty sense of humor, making friends came very easy. In the most recent years, Roxay moved her home to St. Francis Village where she spent most of her time tending to her garden and plants. The quaint surroundings of the village gave her a sense of inner peace and serenity through the end of her earthly walk. Roxay is preceded in death by her Father and Mother, Brother; Roger Sanders and husband Frank. She is survived by Daughter, Tammie Sladovnik Lasater and husband Rick; Son, Jeffrey F.
