With profound sadness we announce the passing of Frances Elaine Selby, beloved mother and grandmother, on September 11, 2020. Frances was born March 29, 1938 in Dallas, TX to Jim and Helen Anglen. She was the youngest daughter, joining her sisters Margaret, Janet, and Barbara. In the years to come, she would gain a stepmother, Doris, whom she loved very much, and a baby sister Theresa. Although several years apart, Frances and Theresa were often mistaken as twins, which Frances took great delight in.
Frances attended Our Lady of Victory Academy and graduated from Paschal High School. She had a lively personality and a beautiful smile, but will be most remembered for her mischievous grin and the twinkle in her eye when she was teasing you. She had a quick wit, a delightful sense of humor and a gift for storytelling.
Frances would go on to have five perfect sons. Yes, perfect. If you could ask her, she’d tell you. She was a devoted mother, who put herself last to raise her five boys and grandchildren with little means. She treasured her boys, and grandchildren, above all else. Frances was immensely independent and brave, kind and gentle, stylish and charming, and affectionate. We will all miss her back scratches and tiny arm tickles, lovingly known as creep mousies. She also had perfected the eye roll of disbelief and a quivering lip that could elicit sympathy in a heartbeat, which few of us have been able to replicate. Frances was small in stature, but never short on acceptance, encouragement, life advice, or unconditional love. She had a soft heart for animals, named her houseplants and kept tabs on the squirrels in her yard. Her stories and warmth endeared her to many in her church family at St Paul’s Episcopal Church. Her faith and her time spent at St. Paul’s brought her much happiness. Friends and family will greatly miss her baked goods, lottery tickets for Christmas and the sound of her laughter. Her love lives on however, in the lives of her boys, and their
children, and all of us who were blessed to know her. She will be dearly missed and forever in our hearts. XOXO
Frances was preceded in death by her parents, Helen and Jim, and sisters, Margaret Anglen, Janet Gaston, and Barbara Balas. She is survived her sister, Teresa (Bobby) Hejl, and her sons, Chris (Rindy) Archer, Keith Archer, TC (Diane) Henderson, Cole Henderson, and Scott (Kim) Selby. Also, her thirteen grandchildren; Chelsea (Peter) Noriega, Jennifer (Rob) Moylon, Tyler Archer, Anica Escobar, Brent Selby, Kristi Henderson, Kelsey Archer, Chandler Hoover, Brynn Hoover, Terry Henderson, Timothy Selby, Ethan Selby, Davanee Selby and six great grandchildren, Carter, Charlotte, Aria, Daryl, Jayde and Alex, along with many devoted nieces and nephews.
