Ron Smith, 71, died unexpectedly January 7, 2022, at his home in Godley, Texas. He was born January 8, 1950, in Oklahoma City, OK, the son of Tommie E. Smith Sr. and Dortha J. Smith.
Ron graduated from Carl Albert High School in the Oklahoma City area. Following graduation, he studied at OSU-OKC. Ron had various job roles throughout his career that provided life experiences for him. Some of these included being a skilled blacksmith specializing in horse shoeing and Truck-driver for Safeway Foods. His final work years and most successful career was in sales working for Lord Label Systems and Superior Label Systems where he retired from in 2008.
You could find Ron spending his free time supporting and watching his grandchildren in various sports and activities. He also enjoyed and had interest in tooling in leather. Many mornings after retirement you could find Ron down at the Godley diner enjoying breakfast and coffee with locals. He had a special way with people, as he never met a stranger and was always willing to support and offer helpful advice as well as lend a hand when possible. His infectious smile would light up a room and make you feel special.
Ronald Gene Smith is survived by his son Ronnie Smith of Godley, Texas; daughter, Christy Wylie and husband Lonnie of Claremore, OK; 4 grandchildren, Ashley Daniel, Jaci Smith, Blake Prahter, and Tye Smith; 3 great grandchildren, Riley, Stormy and Kash; 2 brothers, Gary Smith and wife Anita of Dumas, Texas; Tommie Smith and wife Heather of Keller, Texas; 3 sisters, Cindy Milnes of San Antonio, Texas; Barbara (Babs) Willis and husband Steve of Godley, Texas and Becky Kromer and husband Kevin of Oklahoma City and a number of nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his father, Tommie E. Smith Sr. and mother, Dortha Smith.
A service of remembrance will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, January 13, 2022 by Jack Ferguson at Skyvue Funeral Home, 7220 Rendon Bloodworth Rd. Mansfield, Texas 76063. Visitation will be prior to service at 10a.m. Please join us for the celebration of Ron's life.
