Susan Jean Wright

Susan Jean Wright peacefully joined her Lord on February 20, 2025 after a courageous battle with cancer. Born in Bowie, Texas on April 22, 1967 to Harold and Nancy Monkres, Susan’s life was a testament to her love for God and dedication to serving others. 

After graduating from Midwestern State University, Susan worked at General Dynamics and Fidelity Investments, but her true passion blossomed in the classroom. As a Special Education teacher in Dallas and Arlington ISDs, Susan possessed a remarkable ability to connect with her students, nurturing their potential and making a lasting impact. Her dedication extended to the church nursery, where she lovingly cared for children and their young families for many years. Above all else, Susan loved being a Mom to her beloved daughter Gabby, who was the light of her life. Her faith was her anchor and her church family at Faith Christian Center in Arlington was a source of immense comfort and strength. 

Susan is preceded in death by her father, Harold Monkres and brother, Michael Cunningham. She leaves behind a legacy of love, remembered by her mother, Nancy Monkres; daughter, Gabrielle Wright; sister, Carolyn Melton and husband Henry; brother, Steven Monkres; nephews, Tyler Monkres and Josh Monkres; nieces, Gabrielle Sakel and Alex Sakel; cousin Annis Godfrey; and her cherished church family.
