Carolyn Ward

April 22, 1931 — January 15, 2018

Carolyn (Connie) Ward, Fort Worth, 86, went to be with her Lord and Savior January 15, 2018 after a sudden illness. Connie was born on April 22, 1931 in Greenville, Kentucky to the parents of Melvin and Estell Jenkins. She graduated from High School in Indianapolis, Indiana in 1949. Connie came to Fort Worth with her first husband Dale after returned from the Korean War and he was offered an engineering position at Convair in 1953. She worked as a bowling manager at Seminary South Bowling Alley in the early 1960s. She loved bowling, golfing, fishing, and other hobbies. Before retirement, she had a career in nursing from which she derived immense pride and satisfaction. She was a devoted Baptist and loved the Lord and was constantly praying for her family and friends.
Connie and her husband RD met in 2001 and embarked on a “continuous vacation” as they called it of camping, fishing, boating, and traveling. They took multiple trips all over the country in their travel trailer, making numerous friends along the way.
Connie is survived by her beloved husband, Roy “RD” Ward and her brother James “Jim” Jenkins, her devoted children, Cindy Smith and husband Michael, Debby Herndon and husband Louis, and Randy Marshall and wife Ruthie, stepchildren, Kathy Manning and husband Mike, Robert Ward and wife Mandy, Richard Ward and wife Donna, Roy Ward and wife Angela, Shirley Stone and husband Paul, 23 combined grandchildren, and 19 combined great grandchildren as well as many extended family members.
There will be a memorial service held on January 22, 2018 at 11 am with a Celebration of Life and meal to follow at Oak Grove Baptist Church, 12351 Oak Grove Road South, Burleson, TX 76028. She will be permanently interred at the DFW National Cemetery in Grand Prairie, Tx.
