William David Fred Merrell

William "David" Fred Merrell passed away November 3, 2024, in Springtown, Texas at the age of 84.  David was born August 6, 1940, in Celeste, Texas to David Fred Merrell and Della Marie Earnhart Merrell.  He married Mary Ann Presson Merrell April 5, 1958, in Gainsville, Texas. 

David worked for 38 years at Freight Master, a division of Haliburton and Progress Rail as Maintenance Supervisor.  His hobbies and interest include Dirt Track Racing for over 40 years in several divisions from Figure 8 cars to modifieds. David and his wife were married for 66 years.  They raced together and against each other as a family racing team with a bond that kept them together until her passing on June 14, 2024.  He went to be with her on her birthday, November 3rd.

He is preceded in death by his loving wife, Mary Merrell; father and mother, David and Della Merrell; sisters, Bernice Harris, Zella Hanson and Tina Allen; brother, Bobby Merrell.

David is survived by his daughter, Judy and Mike Walton; sons, John David and Machelle Merrell, Danny and Alyssa Merrell; brothers-in-law, George Hanson and J.C. Allen; sister-in-law, Lisa Merrell; grandchildren, Christina and Joey Valles, Mike and Lindsey Walton, Matt and Erika Walton, Marshall and Stephany Walton, Chelsea and Clayton Barnes, Marissa Harmon, Taylor Harmon, Casey Merrell, Terry and Deanna London; numerous great-grandchildren, nieces and nephews along with other family, Hueleen Merrell, Sam Merrell, Aunt Bertha Mae Merrell, Jeff and Sue Lemieux.
