Laura Virginia Wilson, 94, of Arlington, Texas, passed away on February 11, 2015 in Burleson, Texas. Memorial service will be private.
Laura (also known to many as Virginia, Ginny, and Murr) was born in Wichita Falls, Texas to Wesley Birdie Wigington and Josie Pearl Burns Wigington on July 25, 1920. She went to high school at Coyote High School and graduated in 1938. She married James Woodrow “Woody” Wilson in 1939. Laura enjoyed cooking, sewing, entertaining, and most importantly, her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. Laura believed in the Lord and wherever she lived, she was an active member of the local Baptist Church.
She is survived by her brother, Wesley Wigington and wife Jo of Alabama; sons, Denton A. Wilson, Sr. and wife Patricia of Winnsboro, Texas and Broken Hand and life partner Susan Miller of Pagosa Springs, Colorado; grandchildren, Starlette Gerik and husband Calvin of Mansfield, Texas, Denton A. Wilson, Jr. and wife Misty of Mansfield, and Anthony Patterson of Phoenix, Arizona; former daughter-in-laws Barbara Diane “Dee” Wilson of Arlington, Texas, and Patricia “Trish” Patterson Moore of Phoenix, Arizona; great-grandchildren Kristoffer Gerik and wife Laura of College Station, Kaitlyn Gerik of Dallas, Kourtney Gerik of Mansfield, Austin Wilson of Mansfield, and Michael, Lincoln, Anthony & Melissa of Phoenix, Arizona, along with many nieces, nephews and cousins.
She is preceded in death by her beloved husband James Woodrow “Woody” Wilson; brothers, DL Wigington, William Cary Wigington, CH Wigington, and Alvin Wigington; and her parents Wesley and Pearl Wigington.
Memorial donations may be made to Make-a-Wish Foundation, CrossRoad Christian Fellowship of Pagosa Springs, Colorado, or any other children’s organization. The family wishes to extend their gratitude to The Hospice House in Burleson, Ft. Worth Harris Hospital’s ER and Palliative Care Units, and all of our family and friends for their love and support during the past few months
