Mr. Wobig was born on July 12, 1949 and adopted by Orrin Alden Wobig Sr. and Vera Rowe Wobig soon after in Newport News, Virgina. At age 14 the Wobig family moved to Houston, Texas. Skip often said “I wasn’t born in Texas, but I got here as fast as I could”. Skip grew up in the NASA community and enjoyed baseball, football, and surfing. Skip stayed in Houston until graduating from Clear Creek High School in 1967 and then attended Texas Tech University. After Lubbuck, Skip moved onto work as a temporary draftsman for a construction company, Broyles & Broyles. Soon after, Skip met the love of his life Betty Browder Wobig. Skip and Betty were married in Abilene, Texas on June 3, 1978. Skip and Betty went on to raise two children in Mansfield, Texas while Skip worked as a Chief Estimator. Skip was an avid lover of the outdoors and spent time in the mountains of Colorado as often as he could. Skip loved to ice climb, rock climb, fly fish, mountain bike, 4-wheel drive, and take his family and the students of his church on as many adventures as he could find. He loved to introduce others to the peace and joy of God’s creation. Skip loved his God, his family, his church, and his work.
A man of both many stories and a quiet strong presence, Skip was loved by many.
He was preceded in death by his parents; Orrin and Vera Wobig.
